What skin treatment should I book first if I am new?
At Pearl & Sage, we pride ourselves on our results driven treatments, advanced skincare and our knowledgeable & highly trained Skin Therapists. To get the very best results out of your time with us we require you to have a Skin Analysis & Consultation to begin your journey (this excludes Dermaplaning). This is a thorough and in-depth consultation with one of our Skin therapists where we analyse your skin using our Observ Skin scanner and going over lifestyle factors that may be affecting your skin.
How do I prepare for a Skin analysis or skin treatment?
Do not exfoliate or use any retinols on the skin for a week prior to your treatment. Please let us know in advance if you need to reschedule as we have a 24-hour cancellation & no show policy. No children, friends or guests can be brought to your appointment.
What skincare products do you use?
We use the advanced Lira clinical range in all our skin treatments. We have Lira clinical products and The Skincare Company products available to purchase for homecare.
What is the aftercare for a skin treatment?
Every skin treatment is different and your experienced Therapist will go over the aftercare with you in the clinic.

How does laser work?
The laser light is attracted to the pigment in your hair follicles and uses heat to destroy them.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the client, what areas are being treated and many other various factors out of our control. On average it usually takes 9-12 sessions every 4, 6 or 8 weeks apart before you are on the maintenance stage. Maintenance stage is a treatment every 3 to 6 months depending on the area.
Can I have laser while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Although there is no research to suggest laser is unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women, unfortunately there has been no research or testing done to prove that laser is safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding therefore our clinic policy will not allow any pregnant or breastfeeding women to have laser. Also due to hormonal changes, the effectiveness of laser during pregnancy and breastfeeding is minimal.
Who can’t have laser?
If you have white, blonde, grey or red hair the laser will unfortunately not work on these hairs. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have epilepsy, are taking photosensitising medication, certain medical conditions, sunburn, fake tan and clients with tattoos covering the area wanting to be treated. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call the clinic.
How do I prepare for laser treatments?
If you haven’t had a laser appointment at our clinic before we will book you in for a free consultation and then the treatment after if you are the right candidate. Before coming in we will advise you to shave the area being treated the night before, all fake tan must be removed in and around the area and there must be no sunburn in or around the area. You will receive a consultation form prior to your appointment so please read over that carefully and call the clinic if you have any questions.
What is the aftercare for laser?
Do not sunbake between laser appointments, do not wax or pluck the hairs, apply sunscreenwhenever you are in the sun and reapply when needed, avoid pools or spa’s for 24 hours after your treatment, avoid exercise especially in the heat after 24 hours and always call the clinic if you are unsure or have any questions.

What’s the difference between classic, hybrid and volume lashes?
The difference between the three options is how many lash extensions are applied to your one individual lash. Classic lashes are one lash extension applied to one of your natural lashes. Hybrid is a mixture between one lash applied and up to 3 or 6 lashes applied to one individual lash. Volume lashes are 3 to 10 lash extensions applied to your natural lash therefore creating a fuller more dramatic look.
How do I prepare for a lash appointment?
Make sure your natural lashes or current lash extensions are clean and you’re not wearing any mascara or eye makeup. If you have contact lenses you may want to remove them in case they cause you any irritation. You must reschedule if you have an eye infection, sty or eye inflammation.
What is the aftercare for lash extensions?
You must keep your lash extensions dry for at least 24 hours post treatment. This includes avoiding hot showers, sauna’s, intense sweating when working out, swimming pools or spas. You can have a shower however be mindful of the steam and do not get your lashes wet as the glue is still drying. Do not rub or pull at your lash extensions after application and try to sleep on your side or back instead of your face to avoid damaging your lashes. We highly recommend using our oil free foaming lash cleanser that is safe to use on your lash extensions and eyes. Cleansing the lashes should be done every second or third day. All lash clients will be required to use our Revive 7 lash and brow growth serum to help your lashes stay healthy, strong, and voluminous. This serum works to prevent your lashes from becoming damaged and can increase the longevity of your false lashes due to having a healthy lash to attach to. If lashes are damaged and Revive7 serum is not being used, your therapist may recommend you take an extended break from lash extensions.
To maintain your beautiful lashes we recommend booking in for a maintenance refill every 2 to 3 weeks.

At Pearl & Sage we use Spray Aus tan. A natural, professional, sans-sun tan you can wear all year. We will help you find your best bronze and then we will show you the best way to maintain it at home. Whatever way you want to do it, the Spray Aus product stays the same in clinic and at home.
PRE TREATMENT: Make sure you do all your hair removal and shaving done at least two days before your tan. Same goes with your exfoliating. Also please do not wear any moisturisers, body butters, oils, perfumes deodorant, or makeup to your Spray Tan appointment. It goes without saying BUT make sure all of your last tan is off before you come in to ensure a smooth, streak-free finish. It is best to wear something comfortable, loose and dark in colour to your appointment. As our solution is rapid drying, you can shower as soon as 1 hour after your tan (depending on your desired colour) or leave on for up to 6-8 hours. We will always tailor your application to work with your plans and to achieve your desired look. We recommend booking in a spray tan two days before your event.
POST TREATMENT: Have a warm (not hot) shower to wash off your tan, do not worry if it looks like all your tan has washed off, that is just the bronzer coming off and the tan usually develops a few hours after. Pat dry yourself after the shower and avoid any harsh body washes or soaps. To extend the life of your tan, we recommend using the Spray Aus tan extending moisturiser.
Can I have a tan if I am breastfeeding or pregnant?
Extensive research indicates that the DHA in spray tans does not penetrate the skin, nor enter the bloodstream therefore it appears to be safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. However, if you are concerned we advise you to seek permission from your healthcare provider especially in the first trimester.

What does a full face of makeup include?

If you were wanting “one night wear” false lash extensions applied you must book or call the clinic to let us know. You can either book for strip lashes or individual lashes applied at an extra cost.
What is a colour match consultation?
Our colour match consultation is perfect for many reasons including: if you are unsure what products you were after, need a refresh and advice on what suits your skin best and how to apply, need to update your makeup products, want to change to a mineral based range which also aids in the health of your skin, or you are wanting a colour that suits your complexion perfectly.

Brow lamination:
A brow lamination is a brow enhancement process that works to shape and lift your brows. Laminated brows are relaxed, straightened hairs to create a fuller looking brow. If you have thinning hairs in your brows or gaps from over plucking laminated brows can help you create an even looking shape. We achieve this by using two solutions to relax and then set the hairs.
Things to avoid before brow lamination treatment:
To get the best transformation possible avoid waxing, threading, or plucking your brow hairs prior to your treatment. No exfoliants 48 prior to your appointment as well. We also recommend no tinting of the brows before coming in as that strips tint colour.
Henna tint:
Henna uses a natural dye which not only dyes the hairs but the skin as well therefore we can create more of a defined shape for clients who don’t have many hairs. With a range of colours we can customise the colour to your needs. The henna also includes an eyebrow wax or thread. You will generally need another treatment every 6 weeks, depending on the individual.
Hybrid tint:
Our hybrid tint is a mixture between henna and a normal eyebrow tint. This is a great service for those wanting a fuller look then a normal eyebrow tint. This does stain the skin and brows however doesn’t usually last as long as henna. We can create a natural or fuller look depending on what you prefer and customise the colour for you. Hybrid tints are usually done every 4 weeks.
Eyebrow tint:
Our eyebrow tint is great for someone who has never had their brows tinted before, we can create a subtle look and customise the colour for you. The tint stains the brows and also the skin however will wash of the skin in a couple of days. You will need an eyebrow tint every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the individual.
AFTERCARE FOR THESE SERVICES:
You cannot get your brows wet for 24 hours after your brow lamination, hybrid tint or henna brows. This includes sauna’s, pools, and excessive sweating. Do not rub the brows.

PRE TREATMENT: Time to prep for your waxing appointment. First step let those hairs grow! For best results we want the hairs to be at least 0.5cm long. Avoid shaving the area for 2 weeks pre-treatment. Exfoliate the area prior to treatment to avoid any hidden or missed hairs.
POST TREATMENT: Try to avoid excessive heat, steam, chlorine or sweating 12hrs after waxing. Wait at least 2 days post wax before you exfoliate the area. This helps prevent any nasty ingrown hairs. For Brazilian waxes be gentle to your skin, we recommend cotton underwear to prevent irritation. For ingrown we will recommend our bump eraser products to help treat them.
